CHANHASSEN HIGH SCHOOL BOYS’ SOCCER MISCELLANEOUS Q & A

(FOR FIRST-TIME PLAYERS)

Q: Where do I keep my soccer bag during the school day?

A: Players can drop their bags off in the Activities Office (in the commons across from the main office). There are shelves where they can be stored. Be sure to have your bag labeled with your name. If you are an 8th grader, please go to your school office and they will let you know where your bag can be stored during the school day.

Q: How do I know what uniform to wear?

A: Bring both uniforms to every game. Typically, The BLUE uniform is for away games and the WHITE (or other color) is for home games. Each uniform is to be matching in color – same color for shirt, shorts and socks (unless otherwise noted by coach). Note – C Squad and B Squad teams will receive one uniform set and will then use their tryout/practice shirts as their alternate jersey.

Q: Where do I change into my uniform or practice clothes?

A: You can change in one of the bathrooms right after school. There isn’t much time to go all the way to the locker room to change there, so bathrooms are best.

Q: Do uniforms (and equipment bags if varsity) need to be returned?

A: Yes – all uniforms and equipment bags are the property of Chanhassen High School and must be returned following the soccer season. You may keep the two practice jerseys and socks that you receive at tryouts. Your team manager will let you know more details.

Q: Do I have to order team apparel?

A: No, it is voluntary unless you are on the Varsity team then you are required to purchase designated items.

Q: When does practice take place?

A:  Once school starts, the JV, B Squad and C Squad teams will practice from about 3:30pm (when activity bus arrives) until about 5:30pm at Bandimere Park (unless we are advised otherwise) on non-game days (if there is a game, there is no practice). The coach may adjust the practice schedule as needed and your team manager will let you know as soon as any changes are communicated to him/her. The coach will communicate the schedule with the players as well.

Q: How does my son get to and from Practices and Games?

A: On school days in order to get to practice at Bandimere, the boys should get on the Activities Bus which will pick up in the bus loop behind the school (east side). After the regular route busses leave, the activities bus or busses will be at the High School by 3:15pm. The boys should check with the driver to make sure the bus they get on is going to Bandimere. Parents are responsible for picking up their player after practice or arranging a carpool.

For games played at Bandimere Park on school days, the boys will also ride the activities bus from school to the field, so make sure your player brings his uniform to school on game days. Parents are responsible for transportation after all home games.

Bussing is also provided to and from away games. The bus pick-up and drop-off area is on the east side of the school (same as above). You will be provided with the bus departure time for all away games so please be sure your player is there by that time.

Parents are certainly welcome to drive their sons home after an away game; however, a written authorization form must be completed in advance (see below). The coach will not allow any player to leave with an unauthorized person.

In all cases, the players are expected to be at the field 45 minutes prior to game time. Q: What is the athletics/activities school transportation policy?

A: All players are expected to ride the bus to and from games for which bus service has been arranged for the team. If a player is not going to ride the bus to and/or from an event, the “Transportation Release Form” must be completed and returned to the Activities Office.  This form is located on the soccer page on the Chanhassen High School website. Hard copies are also located in the the Activities Office.

Q: How much time do I have to catch the activities bus? A:  There are three answers to this question.

  1. For practice on school days, the bus usually comes between 3:10pm and 3:20pm (Note: there is no time to socialize after school.) It is best to be ready to board the bus at 3:05pm. The boys should change quickly and get to the bus stop location. If they miss the activities bus then it will be up to the parent to provide
  2. For home games on school days, the process is the same as practices. The activities bus will leave between 3:10pm and 3:20pm. Your coach will not be on the bus with
  3. For away games, there is a designated bus for the team and your coach will typically ride with The bus departure time depends on the game location. The coach may make plans for early dismissal from school, but that will be communicated the day before the game or sooner if possible.

Please remember that all players must ride the bus back to school for away games unless the Coach has approved alternate transportation.  For home games, parents must arrange for transportation at the conclusion of the game since there is no bus.

Q: What is the difference between the Chanhassen Storm Booster Club (aka Storm Chasers) and the Chanhassen High School Boys’ Soccer Boosters (aka Soccer Supporters)?

A: The Storm Chasers support all Athletic programs and Activities at Chanhassen High School through financial and volunteer means – they do not support one activity/sport in particular. All funds raised by the Boys’ Soccer Supporters go DIRECTLY to assist the boys’ soccer program.

Q: How much is it to join the Chanhassen High School Boys’ Soccer Boosters and what do you get for my donation?

A: There is no cost to be a Chan HS Boys’ Soccer Supporter! We just ask that you actively participate in fundraisers and events and positively support all teams in the program!

Q: What is the soccer banquet?

A: Each year at the end of the season, there is a soccer banquet to celebrate all the boys’ hard work. The event includes dinner, player photos and a slide show of each team, awards and the announcement of next year’s captains. Players attend for free!. Family members are welcome to attend for a fee TBD.

Q: What if I need to see a trainer?

A: A trainer is available every day after school from 3-4:30pm (at minimum). The student should visit the training room located on the lower level of the high school.

If a doctor is seen for an injury, x-ray, MRI, etc., please provide doctor’s directions so the school trainer can assist the athlete in their recovery and can help facilitate physical therapy services if needed.

Also, please notify the trainer of any concussions – there is a protocol that MUST be followed!
