The power at Chanhassen High School is running at this time. However, our district’s Buildings and Grounds staff, along with electricians and engineers, identified an issue in the power system that may cause future outages. They are continuing to work on the problem. Back-up generators have been ineffective during this outage because the back-up power cannot get into the school-wide system. With no power at all, there is no running water, no phone or computers, only emergency lighting and student safety is a concern.
As of this afternoon, Chanhassen High School families should plan on school on Sept. 1. There is a possibility of on-going issues with the school’s power until we are satisfied the problem is solved. This may mean future cancellations or modified school days (late start or early release). If we cancel school or delay the start of the school day on Sept. 1, we will notify families by 7 a.m.
We apologize for the disruption. We have staff working all day and overnight to resolve this problem. Thank you for your patience.
